Mumbai records 8,082 fresh Covid-19 cases, 2 succumb to infection

Mumbai on Monday recorded 8,082 fresh Covid 19 cases, amid a continued spike of the infection in the city. Apart from this, 2 people succumbed to the infection in last 24 hours. 622 people recovered from the infection today.
Owing to the rise in Covid cases in Mumbai, Maharashtra Health Minister Bharati Pawar will hold a meeting with health officials in Mumbai tomorrow. The meeting will start at 12 noon.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data showed the city had reported 809 cases on December 27, which meant the tally jumped by almost 10 times as on Sunday. Today, the BMC also shut classes for standards 1 to 9 and 11 till January 31, in light of rising Covid cases in the city.
India’s Omicron tally has crossed the 1700-mark. Maharashtra has recorded the maximum number of 510 cases, followed by Delhi (351), Kerala (156), Gujarat (136), Tamil Nadu (121) and Rajasthan (120).
